week of 7/18/10

Lord, You are our home, a home that we either run away from and long for, or a home where we reside, grounded in love and peace. Your hospitality and openness know no bounds, and that is often difficult for our minds to comprehend. And yet You open the doors, open Your arms, again and again. Open Yourself again and receive these prayers from Your people:

I recently left my church community because of a constant feeling of judgment & betrayal. I want prayer to help me trust a new community and find a safe place to belong.

Spirit, my heart hurts for all the people who are mentally ill. I work closely with those who are tormented…and they have no meds no nurses no safe places to rest.

God, they are hurting so badly.

Bring healing, real true, transformative healing. NOW. please.

Also, please help me to see who I might share this burden with—sometimes I feel alone with these burdens and hurts. Thank you. Amen.

Thank you Lord for all you’ve provided for me in the past 8 months. Thank you for providing me with that incredible day last Saturday. All I ask is if you can help me land that job I’ve been working on for the past month, and my past doesn’t come back to haunt me.

Break open our doors, O God, that we may see you on the other side of the threshold.

Thank you, God, for all the people who stay. And thank you so immensely for all the pure, genuine LOVE I’ve received this week. Let me not go grasping after it but instead rest in the knowledge that it is constant & ongoing.

Dear God,

Please give us the patience and love for one another. Let us be Loving when to that stranger when he or she knocks on our door.

In Christ Name And We Thank You.

Jesus, Your faithfulness and openness to all was relentless, even when Your heart was weary. We thank You for Your openness to us now, for the way You always open the door to us, whether we actually knock or even just think of knocking—You are there, ready, so ready to overwhelm us with Your love. We thank You for this and ask that You move and work and grow in the lives of all these Your people. Amen.
