Light of the world, comforter of souls, redeemer of life,
We turn to you this week knowing that you can take on all that we have – our joys, our sorrows, our mistakes, our successes, our wants, our needs. All of these prayers we hand over to you because we need you to help us bear them. We don’t know how to speak them perfectly, but we know that you hear them perfectly and see everything that our words cannot convey. Lord we ask that you listen to all of our prayers that we humbly, joyfully, desperately, and gratefully bring before you.
“My husband ---- who passed away 2/5/11 and my family.”
“Please pray with me for my son who is in the service in the war over sea. My sister who is sick with cancer. My friend ---- who is in the hospital, also my friend ----------- mother who is also in the Hospital. I thank God for his Blessings in my life and being part of Broad Street Ministry.”
“Thanks be to God for all my blessings – and I ask God to keep directing me to where he wants me.”
“I’d like prayers raised for me to strengthen my desire to walk with Christ, to be convicted to fellowship, witness, and be a part of (this or another) Christian community!”
“----, he is 12 and has a brain tumor. They say that it’s not easily curable. Please pray for him that he gets better!”
“Please help my friends who are going through really rough time and need to know someone is there for them and loves them.”
“Struggling with depression”
“Please pray for courage, order, and peace to those across the world standing up for democracy and human rights in their countries, especially Libya. Please pray for my Grandmam ----‘s health. Please pray for my friend ------- who is struggling with depression and worthlessness.”
“Please pray for the following for me:
-Job
-Financial Stability
-The ability to love myself
-To strengthen my faith and not to have suicidal thoughts.”
“It is hard not let my gifts define, drive me, be my only fulfillment. Not my giver but my gift. I ask the Lord that I may glorify God and not solely myself through these gifts.”
“That Milton Street wins the election for mayor and his program and jobs work out for every ex-offender who applies themselves to it with commitment.”
“God/Love (too big for a pamphlet)”
“God I thank you for helping me stop and notice tiny triumphs, and moments of healing. Keep hangin’ in there with me…I’m getting there. Thank you for patiently teaching me to love myself.”
“I ask you to pray for peace and healing for these Saints:
the Septa accident victim of this morning, ----and her daughter ----, ----, ---- and ----, my mom, ----, ----, ----, ---- and ----, and so many others who I only know by sight and not by name.”
“Help me to keep my ego in check as I move through the next few months of my life… to keep doing what I do for the right reasons.”
“Everything is awkward… we don’t even know how to be friends anymore. I feel sad, hurt, and stuck. A decision must be come to, a drastic change made, but I don’t know what or how.”
“Oh Father,
Please Lord let me not carry my hurt from this day to the next. There is no room in my heart for doubt. Only love from you.”
“Please pray for wisdom for our national legislators to pass a fair budget – not on the backs of the poor. The same for our state legislators. Pray for an end to gun violence. Pray blessings for ----. Pray for Libyan people. Pray for wisdom to their leaders.”
“For a son in college”
“I want to give praise to my maker for the healing that has already occurred and ask for continued healing. Amen”
“I pray for my best friend, ----, who, every year from February to April grows anxious, in anticipation of re-living, walking through, and surviving April 18, 2008 when her father died suddenly and violently left her feeling alone. Help me be her friend and bring God’s comfort to her.”
“A prayer of gratitude for ---- :
Thank you, God, for ----‘s presence with Broad Street Ministry for these last 6 years. The love she has poured out on this community is immeasurable and a true expression of your mystery. Walk with ---- in this transition and give her strength, support, and inspiration. Amen.”
“Lord, thank you for all you do for me. Lord I ask that you give me the strength to do your will and you let me find peace in my soul as I am really not feeling at peace of late. Lord forgive me my many sins both know and unknown. Let me be the salt and light. In Jesus’ name I ask this. Amen.”
“I have a brother and sister in Libya. I pray that they may be willing to live wisely amidst the civil war.”
“A prayer of gratitude for my cats and the joy they bring me.”
“I’m thankful for ----‘s work in this community. I am also thankful for ----‘s invitation to give – it was very powerful today. I’m thankful today and I’m happy to be able to write it down. My friend, ----, is ending a relationship of 7 years – I pray for her to have strength and courage”
‘Please hold my friends in your loving hands. My friends are tired, in pain, and afraid.”
“I love BSM! Thank you.”
“Please pray that we are able to find the correct treatment or diagnosis plan for our son ----------.”
“Lord help the fathers who leave us when we’re not ready. Lord prepare the paths of our children who also seem to leave too soon, and bring light to all our paths so the dark will not seem so strong.”
“Please pray for my father and brother and mother and me and our fractured relationships.”
“More of you. Less of me. Thank you for saving me from myself.”
God who made the world, saved this world, and is always filling this world with your spirit,
Thank you for never allowing us to walk alone. Be with those who are in mourning at this time and show them some of the blessing you have promised them. Strengthen those who feel they are too weak and let them know that you are working in them so that they may accomplish much more than ever imagined. Free all of those who live in environments or oppression and violence. Bring shalom to families and friendships that are strained and divided. Show opportunites for those struggling for survival and their role in this world. God we thank you that you forgive us even when we can’t forgive ourselves. We pray that we will live more closely to your will so that our lives, our communities, our nation, and our planet may become the kingdom you proclaim is coming. We pray all of this in Christ’s name. Amen.
