week of 8/8/10

Lord, we praise You for the ways that You listen to us--You hear our cries, our shouts of laughter, our whispered hopes, even our silent thoughts. You hear, and You respond--You act, You move, You love. For that we are grateful, and we trust in You, even when we can't see You working. We stand on the promises proclaimed in Your Word and by Your saints, and we are therefore bold to come before You with our deepest prayers. God, hear Your people praying:

my world is crumbling. Brick by Brick my fortress is falling. The army has left, no defence is left my white flag has been raised in surrender. No stronghold remains. But as the bricks fall I see that, Lord you have prepaired an even grander structure to surround me. The old is still crumbeling away and I am not so sure of the new. Give me peace and strength and surround me with those who are able to show your love to me. Thank you.

Travelling mercies, times of transition, blessings taken for granted, energy for the path ahead.

Jesus, our prayers range from deep joys to deep sorrows, but You are present in the midst of all of them. Thank You for presence in our everyday, we trust and know that You are there, experiencing life's trials and blessings alongside us. Thank You for Your ability to hold all of these prayers, they are weighty, and we cannot carry them ourselves. Help us to hold each others' prayers close to our hearts, help us be open to the ways in which You might use us to be answers to one another's prayers. Amen.
