DISTRIBUTION COORDINATOR FOR PERSONAL CARE ITEMS
FOR GUESTS AT BROAD STREET MINISTRY
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This new part-time (less than 15 hours) Social Service position fills a vital role on the social service team at BSM. Under the direction of the Director of Social Services the person who takes on this position will be responsible for procuring, sorting, maintaining and distributing personal care and hygiene items for our guests at BSM’s Thursday Breaking Bread Lunch and other times as needed. This position may also involve coordinating a staff of volunteers to assist in the delivery process. For many guests and visitors to BSM the opportunity to receive these items helps them maintain a modicum of self-respect and personal dignity while living on the streets. Required skills are: reliability, ability to track inventory and update as needed, attention to detail, along with a capacity to manage complex relationships with a vulnerable population.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
1. Procurement of personal care items on a continuous basis.
2. Work with the Director of Social Services to constantly improve the methods for distributing personal care items to guests in a dignified way.
3. Work with Director of Social Services to make sure that volunteers are available to support the personal care delivery process.
4. Coordinate the volunteer schedules to ensure that sufficient supplies of personal care items are available at Breaking Bread.
5. Periodically report to Director of Social Services and donors on the scope and effectiveness of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
2. Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
3. A rare combination of both an entrepreneurial and team player mindset with a creative and exuberant approach to work and at least a dash of obsessive loving-kindness.
